The Saket Bar Association issued a circular on Wednesday stating that it will completely abstain from work on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
According to the circular signed by the Association’s President Vinod Sharma, the lawyers will not work to protest the manhandling of Advocate Sachin Gupta by police officials at the Tigri Police Station on May 16.
“Respected Members are informed that in protest of manhandling with our member Sachin Gupta Advocate on 16.05.2023 by police official of P.S. Tigri, South Delhi and disturbing the social fabric between the lawyers and the police relationship, the Saket Bar Association has decided to completely abstain from work on 18.05.2023,” the circular noted.
In this regard, members of the Association have been asked to support the call to refrain from work.
However, the circular clarifies that litigants are permitted to attend court hearings.
The circular concludes with a message of support for Advocate Gupta.
“We are committed to stand by our member of legal fraternity,” it added.
