Shraddha Murder Case: Court Records Statement Of Shraddha’s Brother

Delhi’s Saket court has recently recorded the statement of Shreerjay, brother of Shraddha Walkar who was brutally murdered by her live-in boyfriend Aaftab Poonawala.

Additional Sessions Judge Manish Khurana Kakkar recorded the statement of Shreejay Vikas Walker, his cross-examination scheduled for July 17.

The statements of the other two witnesses, Manish Kumar and Kusum Lata, were completed on Wednesday.

The court has framed charges against Aftab Amin Poonawala for the murder of Shraddha Walkar and destruction of evidence.

Aftab murdered Shraddha in the Mehrauli area on May 18, 2022, and disposed of her body parts in the jungle of Chhatarpur Pahadi Area.

Aftab was arrested in November 2022. The charges under sections 302 & 201 IPC, related to murder and disappearance of evidence, were framed by the court.

Advocate Akshay Bhandari, representing the accused, cross-examined Manish Kumar, the auto driver who dropped Shraddha, and also cross-examined another prosecution witness, Kusum Lata, a neighbour of Shraddha.

Previously, Advocate Seema Kushwaha filed an application on behalf of Vikas Walkar, Shraddha’s father, requesting the release of the bones. He also sought an early exhibit of the bones so that he could perform the last rites within one year of her death.

This case pertains to the murder of Shraddha Walkar by her live-in partner, Aftab Amin Poonawala, on May 18, 2022.

The proceedings are currently at the stage of presenting prosecution evidence, with witness statements being recorded. Her father’s statement is scheduled to be recorded on July 31.
