TThe trial of the Shraddha Walker murder case is going on in Delhi’s Saket court. During the hearing, statements of Shraddha’s father Vikas Madan Walker were recorded. During this he broke down and started crying bitterly. Even his statements could not be completed. However, he identified Aftab Poonawala. His statement has been adjourned until August 5.
Additional Sessions Judge Manisha Khurana Kakkar recorded statements from seven witnesses in Shraddha’s murder case.
Shraddha Walkar’s live-in partner, Aftab Ameen Poonawala, allegedly murdered her on May 18, 2022, following which the accused dismembered the body into 35 pieces and discarded it in the jungle, which was later recovered by authorities.
The court also presented a refrigerator as evidence, purportedly used by the accused to store the victim’s body parts.
In his statement, Vikas Walkar informed the police that he recognized Aftab Ameen Poonawala since he visited their residence and lived with his daughter for the past 3 years, during which he allegedly abused and physically assaulted her.
Vikas Walkar stated that, during the investigation, Aftab informed him that their daughter was no longer alive, leaving him in shock and disarray. Once he composed himself, Aftab revealed that on May 18, 2022, an altercation occurred between him and Shraddha at their residence in Chattarpur, Delhi, where he strangled her.
Further, Vikas Vakar revealed that his family objected to Shraddha’s decision to be in a live-in relationship with Aftab in 2019. He ignored their concerns, believing that her father would accept that she was no longer alive.
