Sunjay Kapur Estate Dispute: Karisma Kapoor’s Children Move Delhi HC

The children of late industrialist Sunjay Kapur from his marriage with Bollywood star Karisma Kapoor on Tuesday have approached the Delhi High Court, seeking a share of their father’s enormous estate, estimated at nearly ₹30,000 crore.

The siblings have filed a civil suit accusing their stepmother, Priya Kapur, of attempting to manipulate their father’s will to gain control over his wealth.

The children, represented by their mother as their legal guardian, have sought a division of the estate, a full account of assets, and an injunction to prevent further concealment or misuse of their father’s property.

Claims Of Withholding Information & Forgery

The suit alleges that the plaintiffs do not have full knowledge of their father’s assets at the time of his death. While they have provided details of known properties, they accuse Priya Kapur of hiding additional assets and failing to disclose the entirety of the estate’s holdings.

According to the complaint, Priya Kapur initially denied that a will existed and asserted that all assets were part of the R.K. Family Trust. However, the plaintiffs allege that she later presented a will dated March 21, 2025, raising serious questions about its authenticity and timing.

A Close Relationship With Their Father

The plaintiffs maintain that their bond with their father was strong and ongoing until his sudden death on June 12, 2025, during a polo match in Windsor, UK. They claim that Sunjay Kapur frequently traveled with them, celebrated family events, and actively involved them in his personal and business affairs.

The children further allege that their father had always reassured them about their future, investing in ventures under their names and listing them as beneficiaries in family assets and trusts. These assurances, according to the plaintiffs, were reflected in shared holidays and family milestones.

Defendants Named In The Case

The suit identifies four defendants. The first and second are Priya Kapur and her minor son, who reside at the family farmhouse in Rajokri. The third defendant is Sunjay Kapur’s mother, living at the same residence. The fourth defendant is a woman claiming to be the executor of the contested will.

The plaintiffs—Karisma Kapoor’s daughter and minor son—are seeking justice through their mother as their legal guardian.

Concerns Over Restricted Access

The complaint states that after Sunjay Kapur’s passing, the children performed the last rites at Lodhi Cremation Ground on June 19, 2025, with the son lighting the funeral pyre. However, tensions reportedly rose shortly thereafter, with Priya Kapur allegedly limiting their access to important documents and financial information.

The plaintiffs claim they were called to meetings at Sona BLW Precision Forgings Ltd. (Sona Comstar) and asked to sign documents without being provided clear details regarding the trust and associated assets.
