A Rohtak court on Friday acquitted Terrorist Abdul Karim Tunda (Dawood Ibrahim’s close aide), on the grounds of lack of evidence in the Rohtak 1997 twin bomb blast case.
The Additional Session Court Judge Yadav pronounced the verdict ‘Tunda’ lodged in Ajmer Central jail through video conferencing in the court.
Tunda is convicted and serving life imprisonment in the case. Where he was acquitted in the 1997 Panipat bomb blast.
Abdul Karim Tunda’s lawyer Vineet Verma stated that “There were two cases against him. The court acquitted him in both. Police couldn’t prove any of the allegations they had leveled against him. These blasts took place in 1997.”
In 1997, the 1st blast took place in the vegetable market & the 2nd on Qila Road Lal masjid where 7-8 got injured. Therefore, Tunda was arrested from the Nepal border in 2013 where he was taken by the Rohtak Police on a production warrant from Delhi Police, since then the hearing of the case is going on in court.
