2018 cheque bounce case: Ranchi Court allows Ameesha Patel to appear on July 10

Ameesha Patel, the actor involved in a cheque bounce case, filed a petition seeking exemption from personal appearance in Ranchi Court .

After surrendering before the Ranchi Civil Court on Saturday, Ameesha Patel was granted conditional bail.

Previously, the court had directed Ameesha Patel to physically appear before it on June 21.

The case originated in 2018 when Ameesha Patel visited Ranchi to attend an event at Harmu Ground.

Actress Ameesha Patel, known for her role in the film ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha,’ found herself in legal trouble regarding a financing agreement for a film. During an event, she met businessman Ajay Kumar Singh, the owner of Lovely World Entertainment, and discussed the investment in the film project. Singh decided to invest in the venture.

Unfortunately, the film faced obstacles and was never released, leading to a dispute between Singh and Ameesha Patel. Singh demanded the return of his investment, amounting to Rs 2.50 Crore. Ameesha issued a cheque to repay the amount, but it bounced, causing further complications in the matter.

This is not the first time Ameesha Patel’s cheque has bounced. In November 2021, she made headlines for a similar incident involving a bounced cheque of Rs 32.25 lakh issued to UTF Telefilms.

Interestingly, the news of Ameesha’s surrender comes at a crucial time as she prepares for her comeback in the movie industry with ‘Gadar 2,’ a sequel to the blockbuster film ‘Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.’ The movie also features Sunny Deol in a prominent role.
