Atul Subhash
Engineer Atul Subhash’s estranged wife, Nikita Singhania, along with her family members, has filed anticipatory bail pleas in the Allahabad High Court after being accused of harassment in Subhash’s suicide note.
The applications have been filed by Nikita, her mother Nisha Singhania, brother Anurag Singhania, and uncle Sushil Singhania.
The anticipatory bail plea comes as Bengaluru City Police issued a summons to Nikita on Friday, requiring her to appear for questioning within three days. Subhash, a 34-year-old engineer, died by suicide in Bengaluru on Monday, allegedly citing harassment by his estranged wife and her family. Following his death, a case of abetment to suicide was registered against them.
A police team from Bengaluru, led by Sub-Inspector Sanjeet Kumar, arrived at Nikita’s residence in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh, on Thursday night to serve the summons. The notice, which was pasted on the door of the Singhania residence in Khowa Mandi, instructed Nikita to appear before the investigating officer at Marathahalli Police Station in Bengaluru within three days.
“The notice specifically names Nikita Singhania and directs her to cooperate with the investigation into her husband’s death,” stated Circle Officer (City) Ayush Srivastava. However, it does not mention the other accused family members listed in the FIR, including her mother, uncle, and brother.
At the time the police team arrived, the house was locked, and no family members were present. The Bengaluru team, after coordinating with local authorities, also planned to visit the civil court in Jaunpur to gather details about earlier legal disputes involving Nikita Singhania, according to Srivastava.
Subhash’s tragic death has highlighted the severe personal and legal disputes between the couple. The Bengaluru City Police are continuing their probe into the allegations, which have added a layer of legal complexity given the involvement of multiple states in the investigation.
