Big Setback for Jaya Prada, Allahabad HC Dismisses Plea Seeking to Quash Non-Bailable Warrant against Her

Jaya Prada

The Allahabad High Court has dismissed veteran film actor and former MP Jaya Prada’s petition seeking to quash non-bailable warrant issued against her by a Rampur trial court for alleged violation of the election code of conduct and making inflammatory statements.
During the hearing, Jaya Prada’s counsel informed the court that they wished to submit a new application with additional facts and documents, requesting permission from the court to withdraw the petition.
The court granted permission and allowed the petition to be withdrawn.
Jaya Prada, who has transitioned into politics, was implicated in two cases during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections campaign for the BJP in Rampur, both related to the violation of the code of conduct.
Despite being summoned by the Rampur district court in both cases, she did not appear. Subsequently, a non-bailable warrant was issued against her.
Following her failure to appear for hearings, she was declared ‘absconding’ by a special court in Uttar Pradesh’s Rampur.
