BJP Alleges Interference in Vote Counting, Seeks Legal Recourse in Calcutta HC

Two BJP candidates and several party workers approached the Calcutta High Court on Monday, alleging that false police cases were being lodged against them to hinder their participation in the counting of votes for the Lok Sabha polls.

Justice Amrita Sinha granted them permission to file the petitions and stated that the matters would be addressed after 2 pm.

BJP‘s Jhargram candidate Pranat Tudu and Basirhat candidate Rekha Patra approached the vacation bench of Justice Sinha regarding FIRs purportedly lodged against them, seeking a stay on these cases to enable their unrestricted participation in the counting process on Tuesday.

Additionally, some BJP workers from Tamluk, identifying themselves as the party’s counting agents, also sought the court’s authorization to file a petition, alleging their involvement in false cases. The court announced that all petitions would be heard after the lunch recess.
