The Calcutta High Court has recently streamed its court sessions live on YouTube.
The proceedings before Acting Chief Justice TS Sivagnanam and Justice Hiranmay Bhattacharyya’s Bench were streamed live on YouTube on Monday.
It appears that the next day’s proceedings in Court Room No. 1 will also be live-streamed.
In October 2020, the Gujarat High Court pioneered the live-streaming of court proceedings on its YouTube channel.
Following that, several High Courts, including those in Kerala, Karnataka, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Patna, and Jharkhand, made similar decisions in the interest of increased transparency and access to court hearings.
The Supreme Court has also begun live-streaming, albeit in a limited manner, with Constitution Bench hearings made accessible on YouTube.
