Calcutta HC Order CID Probe into Law College Principal’s Financial Misconduct

The Calcutta High Court on Thursday passed an order for a CID inquiry into allegations of financial misappropriation against the principal of a law college in the city. Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay of the Calcutta High Court has directed the initiation of a CID investigation into Sunanda Bhattacharya Goenka, who serves as the principal of Jogeshchandra Chaudhuri Law College.

This action stems from a complaint filed by a member of the college governing body in 2018 at the Charu market police station in the city, alleging financial misappropriation. The Kolkata Police’s anti-fraud section initiated an investigation in response to this complaint.

However, given the dissatisfaction with the progress of the investigation, Justice Gangopadhyay has ordered the CID to conduct a comprehensive inquiry into the matter.
