Centre Notifies Appointment Of 3 Advocates As Andhra Pradesh HC Judges

The Central Government, through the Ministry of Law and Justice on Thursday has announced the appointment of 3 advocates as judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court.

The newly appointed judges are Maheswara Rao Kuncheam (also known as Kuncham), Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekar (alias T.C.D. Sekhar), and Challa Gunaranjan.

The official notification confirmed that the appointments were made under the powers granted by the Constitution of India. The President made these appointments after consulting the Chief Justice of India.

This decision follows a recent recommendation from the Supreme Court Collegium, headed by Chief Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, which proposed the names of these advocates for judicial positions.

The Collegium, on October 15, resolved to recommend Maheswara Rao Kuncheam, Thoota Chandra Dhana Sekar, and Challa Gunaranjan for the judgeship. Their seniority will be determined according to established practices within the court.

All three advocates have been actively practicing in the Andhra Pradesh High Court, contributing to the legal landscape of the state.

Their appointments are seen as a significant step in bolstering the judicial system in Andhra Pradesh, reflecting the ongoing efforts to enhance the judiciary’s effectiveness.
