The Allahabad High Court on Tuesday stayed criminal proceedings initiated by a local court against SP (Samajwadi Party) chief Akhilesh Yadav and RLD (Rashtriya Lok Dal) chief Jayant Chaudhary for alleged violation of the model code and Covid norms in 2022.
A bench of Justice Raj Veer Singh, while issuing the stay, directed the state counsel to submit a reply and scheduled the next hearing for February 3, 2024.
An FIR was filed against the two at Dadri police station in Greater Noida in 2022. Akhilesh Yadav and others filed a petition challenging the charge sheet and the entire proceedings.
