Fake Passport Case: Allahabad HC Issues Notice on Abdullah Azam Khan’s Plea

Abdullah Azam Khan

The Allahabad High Court has issued a notice to Akash Saxena, the informant in the case concerning the alleged fake passport of Abdullah Azam Khan, son of veteran Samajwadi Party leader Azam Khan.

A single bench of Justice Rajeev Mishra directed Saxena to submit his reply to a petition by Abdullah, which challenges an order of CJM (MP/MLA), Rampur, dated March 19, 2024. This order had rejected Abdullah’s request to produce evidence questioning the authenticity of his passport.

Previously, on July 18, the high court had reserved its judgment in the case. The dictation of the judgment was deferred when the court discovered that Akash Saxena, the informant, was not made a party to the case. Consequently, the court scheduled further hearings for July 31.

In the meantime, the petitioner’s counsel filed an impleadment application, requesting the court to include Akash Saxena as a party to the case.

The high court granted the application, stating, “Having heard the learned counsel for the applicant, the learned Additional Advocate General and upon perusal of the affidavit filed in support of the impleadment application, this court finds that the impleadment prayed for by the learned counsel for the applicant is necessary as in the absence of the first informant, the present application is not maintainable for non-joinder of necessary and proper parties.”

The court further noted, “Therefore, the impleadment prayed for by the learned counsel for the applicant is necessary. Accordingly, the impleadment application is allowed.”

Following this, the court issued a notice to Saxena to file his reply in the case.
