Gangsters Act Case: Allahabad HC Seeks Medical Report of Afzal Ansari

The Allahabad High Court has instructed the jail authorities to provide a report on the health condition of former MP Afzal Ansari, who has requested bail on medical grounds. Afzal Ansari, along with his brother gangster Mukhtar Ansari, was convicted in an April 2023 Gangsters Act case and sentenced to 4 years and 10 years in jail, respectively.

Afzal Ansari is currently incarcerated in Ghazipur jail.

Earlier, the Court had accepted Afzal Ansari’s appeal against the judgment of the special MP/MLA court in Ghazipur.

During the recent hearing, Afzal Ansari’s legal team requested the court to consider his bail application while his appeal is pending. The lawyer claimed that Afzal Ansari is suffering from a heart ailment and is in poor health.
