Gujarat High Court Mandates Lawyers and Litigants to Settle COVID-Era Court Fees

The Gujarat High Court has issued a circular urging lawyers and litigants to settle outstanding court fees for cases filed during the COVID-19 pandemic. These cases, filed between March 22, 2020, and January 7, 2022, were flagged for non-payment or insufficient payment of court fees.

The circular, issued on May 30 by order of Chief Justice Sunita Agarwal, warns that unpaid fees will be recovered as arrears of land revenue if not settled within 30 days. It also calls for the submission of original or certified documents for resolved cases if they have not yet been filed.
