Hate Speech Case: Right-Wing Activist Kajal Hindustani Sent To Judicial Custody By Gujarat Court

The Gujarat court has recently sent right-wing activist Kajal Hindustani to 14-days judicial custody for her ‘hate speech’ at the recent Ram Navami event after which the city witnessed clashes between the two communities.

A social activist who is known for her fiery speeches against other communities, Hindustani got arrested on Sunday after she surrendered before the Police. She was produced before a court in Una.
The police didn’t seek her custody and, therefore, the court remanded her to 14 days of judicial custody.

Kajal Hindustani is a regular face at the events organized by the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP).

On April 1, she participated in a function organized by the VHP for celebrating Ram Navami.

Previously, she gave a speech targeting a particular community and was booked for hurting the sentiments of the religious community and for promoting enmity between the two religious groups.
Soon after her speech, there were clashes between the two communal groups in Una. The city even witnessed stone pelting.

She was booked under Sections 295A (acts, intended to outrage religious feelings), 153A (promoting enmity between groups on grounds of religion, race, language), and 505 (statements conducing to public mischief) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
