The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court recently directed the Uttar Pradesh Government to inform the court about the deadline for appointing the chairman and member secretary in the UP Pollution Control Board.
A bench comprising of Justice AR Masoodi and Justice OP Shukla issued this directive in response to a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) filed by social worker KP Yadav. During the hearing, the bench highlighted that the petitioner has alleged widespread corruption within the board due to the vacant positions in question.
The bench deemed the matter suitable for intervention given these circumstances. It then scheduled the matter for further hearing on September 11, 2023.
