Jharkhand Govt Promises Appointments to Vacant Constitutional Posts Within 3 Weeks

The Jharkhand Government has informed the High Court that appointments to the vacant constitutional posts will be made within the next three weeks.

The submission was made before a bench of Justices Rongon Mukhopadhyay and Deepak Roshan. The division bench was hearing a PIL filed by the Advocates Association, Jharkhand High Court.

Several key positions in the state, including the Lokayukta, Chief Information Commissioner, and Chairman of the State Human Rights Commission, have been vacant for an extended period.

In 2019, a similar plea was filed by Raj Kumar, and both petitions have been consolidated and jointly reviewed by the court. Advocates Association Secretary Navin Kumar and advocate Abhay Mishra informed the court that these vacancies were hindering work. The division bench then directed the government to submit a status report and scheduled the next hearing for August 6, 2024.
