Jharkhand HC Stays Notice to ED Officials in Hemant Soren’s FIR

Hemant Soren

The Jharkhand High Court on Thursday stayed the operation of a notice issued by the state police in a case filed against Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials by former chief minister Hemant Soren.

Soren had lodged an FIR against senior ED officials at the SC/ST police station in Ranchi regarding a search conducted by the probe agency at his Delhi residence on January 29, 2024.

Under Section 41A of the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), the police had issued a notice to the ED officials, requiring them to appear before the investigating officer and clarify their innocence. The federal agency had challenged the notice in the High Court. The matter will be heard again next week.
