Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh Sworn In As Kerala HC Judge

Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh

Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh on Friday sworn in as a Judge of the Kerala High Court.

He was transferred from the Allahabad High Court based on the Supreme Court Collegium’s recommendation.

Despite Justice Singh’s request to be transferred to nearby States such as Delhi, Punjab & Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, or Rajasthan, the Collegium, in its resolution, found no merit in the request and upheld its previous recommendation dated July 5, 2023, to transfer him to the Kerala High Court. Subsequently, the Central Government notified his transfer.

Justice DK Singh practiced in the Allahabad High Court until 1997 and later in the Supreme Court from 1998 until his appointment as an Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court on September 22, 2017. He took the Oath as a permanent Judge on September 6, 2019.

It is to be noted that few days back, the Awadh Bar Association (ABA) of the Allahabad High Court has recently decided that it will not organize a farewell ceremony for Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh.

The Bar Association’s office bearers and executive members assert that Justice Singh has shown disrespect towards lawyers during his tenure as a judge. They also cited particular instances where offensive language was used by Justice Singh, leading to a tarnished reputation of the Awadh Bar Association.
