Justice Mamidanna Satyaratna Sri Ramachandra Rao officially took oath as the new Chief Justice of the Tripura High Court.
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the Durbar Hall of Raj Bhavan, where Tripura Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu administered the oath of office.

The event saw the presence of several high-profile dignitaries. Among those in attendance were Chief Minister Manik Saha, Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma, and Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury. Sitting and former justices of the Tripura High Court also graced the occasion.
Following the oath-taking, Justice Rao assumed charge and took his seat on the High Court bench the same day, marking the beginning of his tenure in the northeastern state.
Judicial Experience & Previous Role
Justice Rao brings with him extensive judicial experience. Prior to his current appointment, he served as the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court. Known for his legal acumen and commitment to justice, his appointment is expected to strengthen the judiciary in Tripura.
With Justice Rao’s induction, the total number of judges in the Tripura High Court now stands at four.
Transition In Leadership
Justice Rao succeeds Justice Aparesh Kumar Singh, who has recently been appointed as the Chief Justice of the Telangana High Court.
This transition marks a continued reshuffling of key judicial positions across Indian states, aimed at maintaining judicial efficiency and administrative balance.
