Justice Shamim Ahmed Sworn-In As A Judge Of Madras HC

Madras High Court Chief Justice K.R. Shriram has administered the oath of office to Justice Shamim Ahmed today.

Justice Ahmed has been transferred from the Allahabad High Court.

Advocate General P.S. Raman welcomed Justice Ahmed and introduced him to the Bar.

Justice Ahmed was born on March 8, 1966, and holds degrees in Arts and Law from Allahabad University. He was enrolled with the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh on April 17, 1993, and has practiced in various areas of law, including civil, constitutional, service, labor, company, and criminal law.

During his tenure as a lawyer in Allahabad, Justice Ahmed served as Central Government Counsel from 2004 and was also the Standing Counsel for the State of Uttar Pradesh from May 22, 2015, to July 7, 2017.

He was elevated to the position of Additional Judge of the Allahabad High Court on December 12, 2019, and became a permanent judge on March 26, 2021.

The event was attended by several dignitaries, including P.S. Amalraj, Chairman of the Bar Council of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry; G. Mohanakrishnan, President of the Madras High Court Advocates Association; M. Baskar, President of the Madras Bar Association; Revathi, President of the Women Lawyers Association; and Selvaraj, President of the Law Association.

State Public Prosecutor Hasan Mohamed Jinnah, State Government Pleader A. Edwin Prabhakar, other law officers, and members of the Bar from both Chennai and the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court were also present at the ceremony.
