Krishna Janmabhoomi Case: Allahabad HC Postpones Hearing Over Unexchanged Documents

The Allahabad High Court on Monday postponed the hearing of the Krishna Janmbhoomi-Shahi Idgah dispute because some key documents had not been exchanged between the involved parties.

Justice Mayank Kumar Jain is presiding over the case. Earlier, on August 1, the court ruled that the suits were maintainable, dismissing objections raised by the Muslim side, and set August 12 as the date for framing the issues.

The lawsuits seek possession of the land after the removal of the Shahi Idgah Masjid and call for the restoration of the temple, along with a permanent injunction. This dispute centers around the Shahi Idgah mosque in Mathura, which dates back to the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb’s era. It is alleged that the mosque was constructed after demolishing a temple at the birthplace of Lord Krishna.

Prior, when the case was brought up at 2 p.m., it was revealed that pleadings in some of the suits had not been exchanged. As a result, the court adjourned the hearing to a later date, which will be determined in the future.
