The Allahabad High Court is likely to deliver on Thursday its order on an application seeking the appointment of a court-monitored advocate commissioner to survey the Shahi Idgah premises adjacent to the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi temple in Mathura on December 14, 2023.
On November 16, Justice Mayank Kumar Jain reserved the order after hearing the concerned parties in the pending suit related to the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah mosque dispute.
The petition, filed by the deity (Bhagwan Sri Krishna Virajman) and seven others through advocates Hari Shankar Jain, Vishnu Shankar Jain, Prabhash Pandey, and Devki Nandan, asserts that Lord Sri Krishna’s birthplace is beneath the mosque. They claim there are numerous signs indicating that the mosque was originally a Hindu temple.
Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain explained in the application that a lotus-shaped pillar, characteristic of Hindu temples, is present, along with an image of ‘Sheshnaag,’ a Hindu deity who protected Lord Krishna on the night of his birth.
The application also pointed out the visibility of Hindu religious symbols and engravings at the base of the mosque’s pillar.
The applicant has urged the court to appoint a commission with specific directions to conduct a survey within a stipulated time period.
Additionally, they seek directions for the photography and videography of the entire proceedings.
The plaintiffs’ counsel emphasized that presenting the factual aspects of the disputed structure before the court is crucial for the proper adjudication of the dispute. They argue that without understanding the factual position of the disputed areas, effective adjudication of the case is not possible.
In May 2023, the high court took over all the suits pending before the Mathura court, seeking various reliefs related to the Sri Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah mosque dispute.
