Bangalore University Exam Irregularities, K’taka HC Issues Notice to Chancellor

The Karnataka High Court has issued notice to Bangalore University in response to a petition seeking the cancellation of the PhD program admission examination and a halt to the counseling process. Seventeen candidates, citing numerous irregularities in the PhD entrance examination, have approached the high court.

A bench of Justice Ashok K issued notice to 31 respondents, including the Chancellor, Vice-Chancellor, and Registrars of the Administration and Evaluation Department at Bangalore University. They have been instructed to submit objections.

The court has explicitly stated that the PhD admission and counseling process will be contingent upon the final decision rendered by the court regarding the petition.

Bangalore University conducted the PhD admission examination in June 2023. The petition alleges that in certain colleges in the city, students were permitted to take the exam without proper identity verification. Furthermore, the petition asserts that some students were allowed to search for answers on their mobile phones.

The petition calls for the annulment of the June examinations and requests a thorough investigation into these allegations.
