Maneka Gandhi Moves Allahabad HC Challenging Sultanpur MP’s Election

Former BJP MP from Sultanpur, Maneka Gandhi, has filed a petition with the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court, contesting the election of Samajwadi Party MP Ram Bhuwal Nishad.

The petition, submitted by senior advocate Prashant Singh Atal on Maneka Gandhi’s behalf, claims that Ram Bhuwal Nishad has 12 criminal cases against him, but he disclosed only 8 cases in his affidavit to the Election Commission.

Through this petition, Maneka Gandhi seeks the annulment of SP MP Ram Bhuwal Nishad’s election.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, SP’s Nishad defeated the incumbent MP Maneka Gandhi in the Sultanpur seat by a margin of 43,174 votes. The Sultanpur constituency experienced a three-way contest among the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Samajwadi Party, and the Bahujan Samaj Party.
