BJP’s Lok Sabha member Pragya Singh Thakur has got a big relief from the Madhya Pradesh High Court. The High court had dismissed a petition challenging the election of Pragya Singh Thakur from Bhopal.
The single bench of Justice Vishal Dhagat also referred to two previous cases which had dealt with the issues raised in the application.
The High Court said that despite repeated opportunities to the petitioner, he didn’t not appeared, hence the petition is dismissed.
The petition was filed by Bhopal resident Rakesh Dixit, alleging that Pragya Thakur had made communal speeches and incited religious sentiments to win the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, in violation of Section 123 of the Representation of the People Act (RP ACT). .
The Court noted that the petitioner was given repeated opportunities to argue the preliminary issue. After which the petition challenging the election has been dismissed.
Pragya Thakur had defeated Congress veteran and two-time Chief Minister Digvijaya Singh in 2019 from the Bhopal Lok Sabha seat by a huge margin.
