The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing on a plea seeking to transfer the investigation of the MUDA site allotment scam to the CBI.
The petition was filed by activist Snehamayi Krishna, who raised concerns about the credibility of the Lokayukta investigation.
Krishna expressed a lack of faith in the Lokayukta police and requested that the case be handed over to the CBI for a more impartial inquiry. The case revolves around allegations that compensatory plots were allotted to Parvathi, the wife of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, in a high-value area of Mysuru. These plots, it is claimed, were given in exchange for land that was “acquired” by the Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA).
Under a controversial 50:50 ratio scheme, MUDA allegedly allotted 50% of the developed land to individuals who lost land for residential development. Parvathi is said to have received plots under this scheme, despite having no legal claim over the 3.16 acres of land at survey number 464 of Kasare village in Mysuru.
The Karnataka Lokayukta police, along with the Enforcement Directorate, has initiated investigations into the matter. However, CM Siddaramaiah has denied any involvement or wrongdoing in the alleged scam.
The next hearing is scheduled for December 10.
