MUDA Scam: Case Karnataka HC Issues Notices To CM Siddaramaiah

The Karnataka High Court on Wednesday issued notices to Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, his wife Parvathi B M, and several others in connection with an appeal seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation probe into the alleged Mysuru Urban Development Authority (MUDA) scam.

RTI Activist Seeks

The appeal was filed by RTI activist Snehamayi Krishna, who challenged a previous order that had rejected his request to transfer the investigation from the Karnataka Lokayukta police to the CBI.

Court’s division bench also issued notices to the CBI, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, and the Karnataka Lokayukta police. Other individuals named in the notice include Mallikarjuna Swamy and landowner Devaraju.

Concerns Over Impartiality

Krishna’s appeal argues that the Lokayukta police, being under the administrative control of the state government, cannot conduct an impartial investigation. He has called for a CBI inquiry, stating that the central agency operates independently from the state government.

Previously, a single-judge bench of the High Court had dismissed Krishna’s request for a CBI investigation. The case will now be reconsidered by the division bench, which is scheduled to hear it again on April 2.
