NEET 2024: Meghalaya HC Issues Notices to 2 Exam Centres

NEET 2024

The Meghalaya High Court has recently issued notices to the relevant authorities concerning alleged irregularities in the NEET UG Exams conducted at the Jowai and Nongpoh examination centres.

The writ petition was filed by Eleazer Vincent Lyngdoh and others against the National Testing Agency (NTA) and other parties.

During the hearing, Y Pallavi, counsel for the petitioners, highlighted the urgency of the matter, given the controversy surrounding the NEET UG Exams at the two centres.

The high court noted that Dr. N. Mozika, DSGI for the respondents, requested a one-week extension to file an affidavit.

The court granted this request and scheduled the matter for further orders on 12.08.2024. It directed that the affidavit be filed by the next date.

Previously, the Supreme Court had acknowledged a petition from students who sat for the NEET-UG exam at a Meghalaya centre, alleging a loss of 45 minutes during the exam.

These students are seeking inclusion in the group of 1,563 candidates who were granted grace marks and given the opportunity to reappear for the exam on June 23. The apex court has issued notices to the Centre and the National Testing Agency (NTA) regarding this issue.
