The Orissa High Court on Wednesday dismissed a plea filed by actress Varsha Priyadarshini seeking the court’s intervention to prevent her actor-turned-politician spouse Anubhav Mohanty from posting disparaging statements about her on social media.
Varsha had filed petition before the Orissa High Court to halt the “false and hate campaigns” against her. Varsha claims that while her family discord with Anubhav is being litigated in a family court in Cuttack, the videos released by her spouse on social media sites are defamatory. She also urged the court to remove prior posts from numerous social media platforms that harmed her reputation.
Previously, the Court barred both Anubhav and his wife Varsha from posting anything negative about one other on social media. However, in its last hearing on the matter, the High Court dismissed Varsha’s plea, stating that it is Anubhav’s fundamental right and that the court cannot interfere with it.
However, when the order copy is released, it will be clear on what grounds the High Court denied Varsha’s plea.
Varsha had also filed two police complaints in Cuttack, at the Purighat police station and the Cyber police station, alleging that Anubhav harmed her public image by posting videos on numerous social media platforms.
