Punjab & Haryana HC Slams AAP Govt’s ‘Tirth Yatra Yojana’

AAP Govt

The Punjab & Haryana High Court has slammed the Punjab government for its ‘Tirth Yatra Yojana’ scheme, led by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
The court emphasized that the public desires jobs rather than such initiatives.

Parvinder Singh Kitna, with the help of H.C. Aroda, has filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) opposing the scheme, asserting that the government is wasting funds on it while neglecting plans that could benefit the general public.
Petitioner Parvinder Singh stated that the Supreme Court has also mandated the gradual discontinuation of a comparable scheme providing subsidies for Haj.
Notably, the High Court had previously raised questions about the necessity of the scheme, asked the government and inquiring if there was any demand for it.
Advocate H.C. responded, stating, “The common people need jobs, not such schemes.”

The High Court has subsequently issued a notice to the Punjab government, seeking a response by December 12 on why the scheme should not be suspended.
