Renukaswamy Murder Case: Actor Darshan Thoogudeepa Moves K’taka HC

Darshan Thoogudeepa

Actor Darshan Thogudeepa, currently in judicial custody in the Renukaswamy murder case, has approached the Karnataka High Court seeking permission to receive cooked food from home, bedding, and some books to read.

The Kannada actor, in his plea informed the High Court that the prison authorities at Parappana Agrahara Jail have been illegally denying him permission to receive cooked food, cutlery, bedding, and books sent by his family.

He further argued that, as an undertrial prisoner, it is his right to access the food and clothing his family is willing to provide, and allowing these facilities would also reduce the “burden on the State exchequer.”

His petition has yet to be heard by the High Court.

The body of Renukaswamy was discovered on June 9. It is alleged that he died from injuries sustained in an attack carried out on the actor’s instructions.

Darshan is accused of having urged his fans to confront Renukaswamy for making derogatory comments about his alleged partner, Pavithra Gowda, on social media.
