RSS Leader Murder Case: Kerala HC Grants Bail To 10 PFI Members Accused

The Kerala High Court on wednesday granted bail to 10 members of the now-banned Popular Front of India (PFI), who were accused in the murder case of an RSS leader. The court ruled that the prosecution had failed to provide sufficient evidence to justify their continued detention.

Court Cites Lack of Strong Evidence

A bench led by Justice Raja vijayraghavan and Balkrishnan observed that while the charges against the accused were serious, the prosecution had not presented substantial material linking them directly to the crime.

Background of the Case

The case relates to the killing of an RSS leader in Palakkad District in 16 april ,2022 According to the prosecution, the accused, who were members of the banned PFI, had conspired to eliminate the leader due to ideological differences. The incident had sparked tensions in the region, leading to multiple arrests.

Granting bail, the court imposed strict conditions on the accused, including:

  • Surrendering their passports.
  • Not leaving the state without prior permission.
  • Reporting to the local police station at regular intervals.
  • Avoiding any contact with witnesses in the case.

Reactions To Court’s Decision

The ruling has drawn mixed reactions. While supporters of the accused claim that the case was politically motivated, RSS leaders and BJP officials have criticized the decision, expressing concerns about justice for the slain leader.

The prosecution is expected to challenge the bail order in the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, security agencies continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent any law-and-order issues.
