Telangana HC Launches Live-Streaming of Court Proceedings For All Courtrooms

Telangana high court

The Telangana High Court on Monday launched live-streaming of court proceedings for all 29 courtrooms of the High Court.

Chief Justice Alok Aradhe officially initiated this feature on the High Court’s website, and live-streaming of court proceedings commenced at 10:30 AM.

Previously, live streaming was available in a restricted manner, limited to proceedings in courtroom 1 of the High Court. However, the live proceedings from all courtrooms can now be accessed through a link provided on the High Court’s website.

The Gujarat High Court took the lead in introducing live-streaming of court proceedings, which was made accessible on its YouTube channel in October 2020. This initiative prompted several other High Courts, including those in Karnataka, Orissa, Madhya Pradesh, Calcutta, and Chhattisgarh, to make similar decisions in pursuit of enhanced transparency and broader access to court hearings.

In the past, the High Courts of Kerala, Patna, and Jharkhand also uploaded live streams of court proceedings on their respective YouTube channels. However, these live proceedings are no longer accessible to the public on this platform.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court has also embraced live-streaming, albeit in a limited manner. Constitution Bench hearings were made accessible on YouTube, marking a notable step towards providing greater transparency in the judicial process.
