Telangana HC Orders PSC to Re-Conduct Group-1 Prelims Exam

Telangana HC

The Telangana High Court invalidated the Group-1 prelims examination conducted by the state Public Service Commission in June this year and mandated the re-administration of the test.

The direction came from a writ petition filed by certain candidates who sought a re-conduct of the examination held on June 11. They raised concerns about the failure to collect candidates’ biometrics during the examination, as stipulated in the notification.

The petitioners contended that the exam lacked transparency and fairness in its conduct.

On April 26, 2022, the Commission issued a notification for the recruitment of Group-1 service officers in the state. Subsequently, the Group-1 examination took place in October 2022 but was nullified due to a question paper leak. It was then rescheduled for June 11 of this year.

The court has instructed the Commission to re-administer the preliminary exam while adhering to all the general instructions outlined in the notification.

In the meantime, the opposition Congress and BJP have attributed the cancellation of the exam to the state government.
