The ‘Con Bride’ Saga: Court Denies Bail to Woman in Multi-Marriage Fraud Case

In a notable development, the Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court has declined anticipatory bail to Sameera Fatima, popularly known as the ‘Con Bride,’ accused of defrauding seven men through social media platforms. While three other accused received anticipatory bail, the court withheld relief for Sameera Fatima, daughter of Mukhtar Ahmed, the main suspect in the case.

Justice Urmila Joshi-Phalke, in denying bail, emphasized the seriousness of the allegations against Sameera, extending beyond mere financial fraud. The complaint lodged at Gittikhadan police station detailed Sameera’s deceitful tactics, including luring a local businessman into marriage through Facebook contact, blackmailing him with compromising photographs, and later escalating her demands by involving relatives and threatening to circulate the images unless paid 10 million rupees.

Police documentation presented during the High Court proceedings revealed negotiations attempting to settle the dispute for the same amount, shedding light on Sameera’s pattern of deceptive behavior targeting multiple men through her social media influence.
