TMC Leader Sukhendu Sekhar Roy Moves Calcutta HC against Police Notice
Trinamool Congress MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy filed a petition in the Calcutta High Court on Monday (August 19), challenging a notice issued to him by the Kolkata Police concerning a social media post he made regarding the alleged rape and murder of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The notice was served to the veteran politician on Sunday, instructing him to appear before the police. Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj granted permission for Roy’s lawyer to file the petition contesting the notice.
The court stated that it will hear the petition on Tuesday.
In his social media post, the senior TMC MP called for the CBI to conduct a “custodial interrogation” of the Kolkata Police commissioner and the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital as part of its investigation into the alleged rape and murder of the postgraduate trainee doctor.
