Lawyers for TMC MP Sukhendu Sekhar Roy informed the Calcutta High Court on Tuesday that they have reached a settlement concerning his social media post.
The post called for the interrogation of the Kolkata police commissioner by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the alleged rape and murder case at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
The TMC leader’s counsel informed the court that he has agreed to delete the post from his X (formerly Twitter) account, in which he had requested custodial interrogation of the police commissioner and the former principal of the medical college. The state’s counsel confirmed that no action will be taken against Roy in relation to this matter.
Justice Rajarshi Bharadwaj, who is presiding over the case, stated that he will issue an order on Wednesday (August 21) after Roy deletes the social media post and the state submits a report confirming that it will not take any further action against him.
In the interim, the state’s counsel assured the court that no coercive measures will be taken against the TMC Rajya Sabha MP in West Bengal until the order is issued.
