16-Year-Old Boy Appears In Court For Attempted Murder At Blundell’s School

A 16-year-old boy has recently appeared in court accused of attempted murder after an incident at Blundell’s School in Tiverton.

The boy stands accused of attempted murder and grievous bodily harm with intent, following a distressing incident that took place at Blundell’s School in Tiverton.

The alleged assaults occurred on June 9, involving two youths, whose identities are also legally protected, and a school worker named Henry Roffe-Silvester.

During the court hearing, conducted via video link from a young offender’s institute, the boy was attired in a light grey T-shirt. He spoke only to confirm his name and express his comprehension of the proceedings.

Family members of both the accused and the alleged victims were present in the courtroom.

The defense counsel, Kerim Fuad KC, requested a postponement of the trial until April 2024. However, Judge Peter Johnson denied the application and maintained the trial’s scheduled date of December 4.

James Dawes KC, the prosecutor, informed the court about ongoing investigations into various electronic devices related to the case.

Notably, the boy was not required to enter any pleas during the hearing. The judge addressed him, expressing hope that he had followed the proceedings. Further, the judge stated that the trial would proceed in December, if possible, and the accused would remain in his current custody for the time being.
