British Nurse Receives Life Sentence For Murdering 7 Babies

Nurse Lucy Letby, deemed as Britain’s modern-era serial child killer, has been recently sentenced to lifelong imprisonment without the possibility of release.

The verdict comes after her conviction for the murder of 7 newborns and the trying to kill another six.

Letby (33) executed her acts of murder on 5 baby boys and 2 baby girls in the neonatal unit of Countess of Chester Hospital in northern England between 2015-2016. She use to inject the infants with insulin or air or force-feeding their milk.

Some of those she attacked were twins, in one instance, she took the lives of both siblings, while in another, two of three triplets met the same fate. In two cases, she succeeded in ending the life of one twin but failed to do so with the other.

Judge James Goss, who sentenced her to life imprisonment with no prospect of release stated, “This was a cruel, calculated, and cynical campaign of child murder involving the smallest and most vulnerable of children.”

“There was a deep malevolence bordering on sadism in your actions. You have no remorse. There are no mitigating factors, You will spend the rest of your life in prison.”

Whole life orders are very rare, with only three other women in Britain having received such a sentence before including serial killers Myra Hindley and Rosemary West.

Notably, Letby declined to be present in court when her sentence was announced.

This prompted discussions about whether criminals should be mandated to confront the impact of their actions on victims and their families.

The mother of one of the victims described it as a final act of wickedness.

This horrific crime committed by Lucy Letby, during her 20s, have deeply shaken Britain, leaving a trail of shattered families and traumatized colleagues.

Previously, last week she was found guilty of seven counts of murder and seven of attempted murder following a 10-month trial at Manchester Crown Court. Jurors were unable to agree on whether she tried to kill 6 and acquitted her of 2 other charges of attempted murder.

Earlier, court heard an emotional, heart wrenching statement from the parents of those she tried to kill and murdered.
The mother of one baby boy she murdered stated, “There is no sentence that will ever compare to the excruciating agony that we have suffered as a consequence of your actions.”

The father of the triplets stated in a statement, “Lucy Letby has destroyed our lives. The anger and the hatred I have towards her will never go away.”

The mother of twins, one of whom Lucy murdered stated that she hoped Letby lived a long life, spending every day suffering for what she had done.

The mother stated, “My family will never think of you again – from this day, you are nothing.”
