Former Prime Minister of Pakistan Imran Khan will remain in Attock Jail even after getting relief from the Islamabad High Court in the Toshakhana case.
According to Pakistani media reports, a recently constituted special court under the Official Secrets Act has directed the Attock jail authorities to keep Imran Khan in ‘judicial custody’ instead of releasing him. Not only this, the special court has ordered to present Imran Khan on Wednesday in the cipher case.
In a letter addressed to the Attock jail superintendent, the special court ordered jail authorities to produce Imran Khan on August 30 in connection with the cipher case.
“That accused Imran Khan Niazi s/o Ikramullah Khan Niazi r/o Zaman Park, Lahore is hereby ordered for judicial remand in case FIR mentioned above, who is already detained in district jail, Attock,”
The verdict was reserved a day earlier after the completion of the arguments from the respondents.
Earlier in the day, the Islamabad High Court (IHC) suspended the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Chairman’s conviction and three-year jail sentence in the Toshakhana case.
