“Efforts are on to silence me” Says Imran Khan, After Arrest Of PTI Leader Fawad Chaudhry

Former Prime Minister of Pakistan and the leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, Imran Khan, said that efforts were being made to arrest and silence PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry after he was arrested on Wednesday. He stated, however, that he did not fear dying or being imprisoned because he had closely seen death.

While condemning Fawad Chaudhry’s arrest, Imran Khan stated on Wednesday that the legal fraternity and the judiciary must play their roles in the current situation and that those who failed to present him in court must be held accountable. The country’s future appears bleak, according to Khan, because of the way its rulers are leading it. Realizing the gravity of situation, he urged the country to rise.

He further added that the people of Pakistan were the true heirs of the country’s legacy, and that the country needed to be run on the principle of justice, which was also the base of the Medina state.

The former Pakistan prime minister stated that Fawad was arrested for using the word Munshi, which was not a crime, and that those who failed to present him before the court should be held accountable for this violation of the law. He said, “Justice must prevail in order to alleviate poverty in the country.”

Khan contacted Fawad’s wife and inquired about his family. He expressed his solidarity with the family and praised Fawad’s role in the party.

The party’s senior vice president Fawad Chaudhry was arrested shortly on Wednesday morning from his house after publicly criticising the Pakistan government for plotting to arrest the country’s former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan.

Farrukh Habib, the PTI leader, confirmed Chaudhry’s arrest. Habib stated in a tweet, “Police have arrested Fawad Chaudhry from his home. The imported government has gone completely berserk.”

Several other PTI leaders have also condemned Chaudhry’s arrest. The arrest of Chaudhry comes amid a nightlong turnout of PTI workers who descended on party chairman Imran Khan’s home to ensure his safety. The arrest of Chaudhry was confirmed by the Islamabad police and a case was filed against Chaudhary on Wednesday night at the Kohsar police station in Islamabad on the complaint of Election Commission Secretary Umar Hameed.

Chaudhry was arrested near Thokar Niyaz Baig in Lahore. According to the sources, Chaudhry will be taken to Islamabad. PTI Sindh President, condemning the arrest, said, “Pakistan has become a lawless state.”
