FBI Director Christopher Wray To Testify Before House Judiciary Committee In July

FBI Director Christopher Wray is scheduled to appear before the House Judiciary Committee in July, according to two sources familiar with the matter.

The committee, which is currently under GOP control and chaired by Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, will hold the hearing on July 12 after the congressional recess following the July 4 holiday. The sources indicated that the hearing will cover a wide range of topics and that no specific agenda has been set. Rep.

Previously, Jordan has previously criticized the FBI and Director Wray on various issues, including the federal investigation into Hunter Biden, who is expected to plead guilty to misdemeanor tax-related charges. Hunter Biden also faces a separate felony gun possession charge, which is likely to be dismissed under certain conditions.

Additionally, Rep. Jim Jordan has issued subpoenas to FBI Director Christopher Wray for documents related to two separate matters. One subpoena was in response to Jordan’s claim that a withdrawn memo focused on the FBI investigating potential domestic violent extremism in Catholic churches. The other subpoena, along with other members of the Biden administration, sought documents related to local school board meetings.

Wray’s upcoming testimony comes after House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer threatened to begin proceedings to hold Wray in contempt of Congress.

However, these proceedings did not progress further when the FBI agreed to allow Republicans to view a document that allegedly contains an unverified allegation that Joe Biden accepted a bribe during his time as vice president. The allegation had been reviewed by the FBI and a federal prosecutor in 2020, but it was not substantiated according to a senior law enforcement official.
