Pakistan’s Attorney General informed the Supreme Court that former Prime Minister Imran Khan is being served desi chicken and mutton cooked in ghee while incarcerated in Attock Jail.
In light of his profile and legal status, all facilities are being provided to the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in Attock Jail.
Following the Supreme Court’s direction for a report on the former Prime Minister’s living conditions, the prison administration submitted a report through the Attorney General’s office. According to the report, the convicted prisoner was held in a cell measuring 9 feet by 11 feet, which had been whitewashed. The entire floor had been cemented and a fan had been installed.
The report states that the toilet used by the former Prime Minister was expanded to 7 feet by 4 feet and its walls were extended to five feet. Additionally, a fiber door measuring 2 feet by 5 feet was installed. Furthermore, a new toilet seat, shower, tissue stand, and stainless-steel faucet were provided, along with a large glass wash basin for bathing and face washing.
According to the report, as per his preference, the former Prime Minister was being served desi chicken twice a week, along with ghee-cooked mutton. To ensure the secure detention of the ex-Prime Minister in jail, at least 53 temporary jail employees were stationed from Punjab. The imprisoned offender received a bed, 4 pillows, a table, a chair, a prayer mat, and an air cooler.
Furthermore, the report indicates that the guilty prisoner was provided with four copies of the Holy Quran with English translations, as well as 25 books on Islamic history, besides newspapers. According to local media reports, Pakistan District and Sessions Court sentenced Imran Khan to 3 years in jail on August 5th in the Toshakhana case, which involves the alleged illegal sale of government gifts. He was also disqualified from politics for 5 years.
Following his immediate conviction in the Toshakhana case, the chairman of PTI was apprehended from his Zamzama Park residence in Lahore. The court also imposed a fine of PKR 100,000 on Imran Khan. According to Pakistani Media, Khan expressed dissatisfaction with his jail stay and voiced his reluctance to remain there.
