The French government recently ban TikTok, Instagram, and Twitter apps on the phones of government employees.
In one of its important decisions, the French government banned social media apps like Tiktok, Instagram, and Twitter on phones of the government employees.
The French government has also banned other apps including Netflix, gaming apps like Candy Crush, and dating apps. They have been accused of data theft. In fact, theft of data is being done on a large scale across the world.
Further, after stealing the data, it is being sold to other companies for a hefty amount. Many such apps that are present in the market have created a threat, these apps gain access to users’ media files. Some countries have become vigilant in cracking down on data theft.
France has become the first country in the world to ban the app.
French minister Stanislas Guerini tweeted that “To guarantee the cyber security of our administration and our public officials, the @gouvernementFR has decided to ban entertainment apps like TikTok on the professional phones of state officials.”
Therefore, the ban will be monitored by France’s cyber security agency for compliance with the decision. However, if an officer wants to use a restricted app for commercial purposes, he can also seek permission to do so.
Previously, many apps including Tiktok were banned by the Government of India due to data theft.
