Homophobic PSG Slur: Former France Captain & Manchester Star Evra Fined

The Paris court on Thursday fined an amount of €1,000 to Patrice Evra over “homophobic insults” aimed at Paris Saint-Germain in 2019.

Evra is the former France Captain & Manchester United defender Patrice Evra. His outburst came into aftermath of PSG losing to the Manchester United in the Champions League, and clip of incident posted by a 3rd party went viral on social media.

“Paris, you are queers, Here are the real men doing the talking,” Evra says in the film and made a public apology at the time. But the complaint of public insults in homophobic nature was lodged by the 2 groups.

A lawyer for one of the groups stated that “The words of Patrice Evra, which contrasted ‘queers’ with ‘real men’, show a homophobia commonplace in the world of football.”

Evra’s lawyer Jerome Boursican said that “The decision puts an end to an exaggerated controversy. Patrice Evra has spoken out actively against homophobia and reaffirmed his fight against all forms of discrimination”.

Therefore, Patrice Evra accepted the decision of the court on Thursday.
