According to reports, a local court in Islamabad, Pakistan has decided to indict Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Imran khan and his wife Bushra Bibi in the Iddat case on January 10, 2024.
A complaint filed by Bushra Bibi’s ex-husband Khawar Farid Maneka was heard by Senior civil judge Qudrat Ullah. Justice Ullah said that the decision to frame charges against Imran Khan and his wife will be taken on the next day of hearing. The judge carried out the proceedings at Adiala Jail.
Bushra Bibi with her legal team and Imran khan appeared before the court and joined the proceedings. The copies of Nikkhahnama and divorce deed were distributed by the court to the couple. Further proceedings of the court were adjourned till January 10.
Imran Khan married Bushra Bibi in Lahore, in February 2018. Only close relatives were present at the marriage ceremony. Mufti Saeed performed the nikkah in the presence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders – Awn Chaudhary and Zulfi Bukhari, who appeared as witnesses.
Before parting ways, Khan’s close aid, Chaudhary previously testified before the court that Imran Khan got married on January 1, 2018. The PTI founder has been married twice before tying the knot with Bushra Bibi. Reports have stated that Imran Khan married Jemima Goldsmith, daughter of a billionaire in 1995. However, the couple divorced in 2004. He got married for the second time to Reham Khan. Nonetheless, 10 months after their public ceremony in January 2015, their marriage ended.
Concurrently, Bushra Bibi’s pre-arrest bail in six different cases was extended by the additional district and sessions judge. The cases included the one lodged in Kohsar Police Station for preparing fake receipts of Toshakhana gifts. The court extended her bail till January 16 in the FIRs lodged against her in Karachi Company, Ramna, Tarnol and Secretariat police stations in connection with protects held in March, 2023.
