Raoof Hasan, a leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, has been ordered to a 14-day judicial remand by an Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Islamabad. Judge Tahir Abbas Supra rejected a request for a seven-day physical remand for Hasan.
Hasan, who is the PTI’s information secretary, was initially placed on physical remand for one additional day by the ATC. He was arrested by Islamabad Police on July 22 at the PTI secretariat located in sector G-8.
The arrest followed a raid on the PTI Secretariat, based on credible information from an international social media activist linked to PTI. Law enforcement officials stated that the digital media center at the PTI Secretariat was central to an international disinformation network.
